Random thoughts, experiences and ramblings about raising kids, being a grandma, cooking, cleaning, being a trucker's wife, homeschooling, simple living, writing, drawing, National Novel Writing Month and anything else that comes my way
"To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common."

Sprints At My House
I have five daughters still living at home. Every year since 2005 I've participated in National Novel Writing Month. The past four years my now 18yo has done it with me. In 2009 & 2010, all the girls did it with me. This year, again we are all challenging ourselves to write a novel in thirty days.
At any given time through the day, a girl can be seen in any area of the house, writing. To boost our word counts and keep our inspiration high, we have several 20 minute sprints throughout the day. Sprinting is a flurry of keyboards clicking and pencils scratching on paper. I set a timer on my computer and we write without stopping until the fog horn sounds. Afterwards we declare our word (or page) boost and discuss where our stories sit. It is incredible fun.
The video is not staged but I did get caught at the end. :o)
